The Bason Botanic Gardens, 8 km north west of Whanganui is a sprawling but contained area of gardens, lakes, open spaces, some bush and walking trails. It is a popular picnic spot and there are public barbecues which are available for use.

Enter the gardens at the main entrance and drive down to the bottom of the hill for prking and the event centre.

Difficult. 2.7km, 21 controls

Moderate. 2.1km, 19 controls

Easy. 1.2km, 15 controls

You may start any time between 11 and 12, and course closure will be around 12.45pm to give us time to set up for the afternoon.

After your run sizzle a sausage or have a picnic lunch, pop down to Mowhanau beach or back into town for a coffee before coming to the afternoon Sprint at Whanganui Collegiate and St Georges Preparatory Schools.  Set on a sprawling campus, the courses will take you around a combination of historic buildings and state-of-the-art modern facilities set in a tree lined environment. This will be the first time this map has been used.

Park in Liverpool St, and enter only through the Orienteering signposted gate. No parking on the school grounds.

3 Courses.  Starts between 2 and 3 pm. Course Closure 4pm. 

Difficult. 2.3km, 24 controls

Moderate. 1.5km, 21 controls

Easy. 1 km, 16 controls

The Easy courses are suitable for complete beginners with easy route choices. The Moderate and Difficult courses lend themselves to quick decisions as to which would be the most efficient route. Competition can be fast and furious or you can chose to walk/run at your own pace. 

Save queuing at Registration. Enter by EnterO by midnight two nights before. The link will be available here sometime during the week before the event. Entry on the day will be available.

Please choose the same difficulty for morning and afternoon courses. If you have time you may try any of the other courses offered at no extra charge, provided there are still maps available.

 Fees. Morning and afternoon courses are offered at about 1 1/2 times the price for 1 course.

Junior Club members: $7 for both morning and afternoon courses, $5 for only morning or afternoon. 

Senior Club members: $15 for both morning and afternoon courses, $10 for only morning or afternoon.

Family Club members $30 max. per family for both morning and afternoon courses, $20 for only morning or afternoon.

Non-members Fees. (Approx)

Junior (20 and under): $11 for morning and afternoon, $7 for only one.

Senior (21 and over): $21 for morning and afternoon, $14 for only one.

Family: $37 for both morning and afternoon, $25 for only one.
