Prickly Sands Success and up-coming Whanganui Double Sprint
Over 120 people came to Prickly Sands on June 21st, several enjoying it so much that they had a second and even a third run! Thanks to all from Orienteering Wellington, Hutt Valley and Taranaki as well as our Red Kiwi members who came knowing it would be a great event. P!ostponing by a week meant that we missed a few people who were out at a biking event instead, but at least we weren't shot at by the skeet shooters!
Thanks to Malcolm who managed to get 7 courses of all levels on a small map, using loops and map flips for the more difficult controls.
Thanks also to Russell, who not only was the controller but also did most of the electronics/timing. Thanks to Chris T, Wayne and Sienna, Malcolm and Gillian and anyone else who collected controls, Peter for digging the toilet tent etc, Georgia for helping on the timing, Anne on the Start and anyone else who helped.
Our Double Sprint event on July 5th should be fun and completely different. 3 courses in the morning at the Bason Botanical Gardens just out of Whanganui followed by 3 in the afternoon at Whanganui Collegiate. 'Easy' for absolute beginners or small children, 'Moderate' for a bit of a longer walk/run with more decisions to make and 'Difficult' for lots of decision making for the most efficient route betwen lots of controls. Priced well. Enter both events for the price of one and a half events. The registration should be up on the Website next week if not before. Check out the Events tab.
